BVI Finance Launches Special Anniversary Business Insight: “Future Proofing – 40 Years of BVI Business Companies”

BVI Finance proudly announces the launch of its special edition Business Insight titled “Future Proofing – 40 Years of BVI Business Companies”. This commemorative issue marks four decades since the introduction of the BVI’s International Business Companies (IBC) Act of 1984—a pivotal moment that established the BVI as a global financial powerhouse.

This issue pays homage to the visionary policies, leaders, and institutions that have driven the BVI’s ascent on the global stage.

Featured Highlights include:

•    “From Registrar in 1984 to Privy Counsellor in 2024” – The Right Honourable Dame Janice Pereira reflects on her journey from Registrar of Companies at the inception of the IBC Act to her current role as Privy Counsellor, emphasizing the importance of foresight and strong governance.

•    “Building a Global Standard: The FSC’s Role in the BVI’s Growth” – Cherno Jallow, KC, explores how the BVI Financial Services Commission (FSC) has maintained the territory’s competitive edge through thoughtful legislation and regulatory innovation.

•    “From BVI To Asia: Shaping the Future of Global Investment” – Featuring insights from Carson Wen, Michael Gagie, and Kristian Wilson, this piece reveals how BVI structures have become indispensable to cross-border business, fostering growth, stability, and opportunity across Asia.

•    “Pioneering Leadership in Financial Services” – A spotlight on Vanessa King, Managing Partner at O’Neal Webster, whose ascent to global leadership within the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) underscores the BVI’s role in cultivating world-class talent.

Institutional Strengths:

The issue also delves into the contributions of key institutions that form the bedrock of the BVI’s financial ecosystem, in addition to the FSC, it also covers the Registry of Corporate Affairs, the Commercial Court, the Financial Investigation Agency (FIA), the BVI International Arbitration Centre (IAC), and the International Tax Authority (ITA).
