Second Year of Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme Marks Growth, Deeper Partnerships, and Career Milestones

26/09/2025

September marks the successful completion of the 2025 Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme, led by BVI Finance and the Ministry of Financial Services, Economic Development and Digital Transformation. This year, 26 bright and ambitious tertiary students were placed at top-tier firms within the BVI’s globally recognised financial services industry, gaining firsthand insight, skills, and connections that will shape their futures and the future of the jurisdiction.

Now in its second year, the programme has seen significant growth in both participation and impact. This year’s cohort was placed at 21 leading firms across the financial services industry, reflecting expanded support from both returning partners and new contributors.
Several students returned to firms where they previously interned, a testament to the strong relationships built through the programme. Notably, some participants received offers for full-time positions, marking a major milestone in the programme’s mission to connect young talent with long-term career opportunities in the BVI.

Professional Development & Industry Exposure

In addition to their hands-on placements, students participated in a series of structured professional development sessions designed to enhance their workplace readiness. These sessions covered key topics such as professional etiquette, digital branding, résumé building, and navigating the modern workplace. Students also received guidance on relevant academic and professional courses they can pursue to support their long-term career goals. All sessions were delivered by some of the BVI’s most respected industry leaders and training professionals.

Leadership Reflections

“This initiative is not just about internships, it’s about building a resilient, future-ready workforce that will sustain and elevate the BVI’s financial services industry for years to come. The growth of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Programme shows that our industry partners share this vision. We’re preparing these students not just to enter the workforce, but to lead it,” said Elise Donovan, CEO of BVI Finance.

“Having experienced firsthand how transformative internships can be, I know just how important early exposure is in shaping a meaningful career. Opportunities like this open doors, build confidence, and give young professionals a chance to discover their path. It’s incredibly rewarding to now be part of a programme that’s creating real pathways for the next generation and helping to shape the future of the BVI.” said Shamahl A. Smith, Programme Lead.
