BVI Delegation Attends Third Annual Business BVI Asia Conference on Day Two of Asian Trade Mission

Following a very productive first day in Asia, the BVI delegation led by Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE spent the second day of the BVI Asian Trade Mission attending and participating in the Third Annual Business BVI Asia Conference under the theme Creating the Future: Leveraging our Asia Relationships + Technology.

This year’s conference featured Premier Smith and more than 16 other speakers including Director of BVI House Asia, Elise Donovan; Interim Executive Director of BVI Finance, Lorna Smith, OBE; Chairman of the Board, BVI International Arbitration Centre, John Beechey; and guest speakers from BVI firms in Hong Kong and Greater China.

During his presentation BVI firm representative and Partner at Conyers Dill & Pearman, Richard Hall stated, “Our flexible and innovative products and services in the BVI are proof that it is the perfect jurisdiction for this market. We (the BVI) must ensure we continue to provide the quality of service that we do now and invest in technology for added value and productivity.”

The Third Annual Business BVI Asia Conference set out with a goal to mark the BVI as a leading player in the Asian offshore market and inspire businesses to see the value in embracing stronger long-term strategies with the jurisdiction. The conference provides a platform for industry experts, leaders and progressive businesses from across the BVI and Asia to exchange ideas for a sustainable future.
