27/02/2017

BVI Finance Limited announces the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Morgan as the chairman of its inaugural Board of Directors. Mr. Morgan was elected by his peers at the board’s first meeting and will serve as chairman for one year.

The new chairman brings to the position almost 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, having served as Executive Director of Rawlinson & Hunter Limited, part of an international group of trust and accounting firms specialising in international tax and estate planning. Part of his remit included responsibility for marketing and Mr. Morgan travelled extensively promoting the firm and the services offered from the BVI.

Commenting on the transition to BVI Finance Limited, Mr. Morgan said “it comes at a critical juncture in the evolution of the financial services industry. There can be little doubt that the BVI is facing perhaps the greatest challenges yet in the 30-year history of its financial services industry.  Major changes to the way our business is conducted are under way and these efforts will need the encouragement of all in our community.”

The new chairman further stated, “The reorganisation of BVI Finance is one component among many and I hope the new board will be able to offer direction and support to the good work being done by BVI Finance Limited.  Our marketing initiatives are crucial to the future success of the industry and I know that the full board will work hard to ensure we get maximum value from the resources of what is clearly now a public/private partnership."

In his most recent portfolio in the financial services industry, Mr. Morgan serves as head of Pendragon Services Limited, a consulting and advisory company which provides administration facilities for BVI companies and promotes the benefits of the BVI financial services sector. He is also a director for the newly formed Bank of Asia which will be established in the BVI soon.

Mr. Morgan is also the current Vice Chairman of BVI branch of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is a past president of the BVI Association of Registered Agents.  He has also served on a number of committees designed to support and improve the BVI financial services sector including the Premier’s Financial Services Task Force; the Marketing Advisory Committee of BVI Finance and the Financial Services Business Development Committee.

As chairman of the 11-member BVIFL Board of Directors, Mr. Morgan is tasked with spearheading efforts to fully cement the public/private partnership that has been created with the coming into being of BVI Finance Limited, the private company now responsible for marketing and promoting the BVI as a financial services jurisdiction.
