Business And Finance Sector Pledges Support For Rebuild Of Commercial Court
04/12/2017
A number of organisations in the BVI’s business and finance sector have pledged a significant financial contribution in support of the Commercial Division of the BVI High Court’s rebuild following the destruction caused by Hurricane’s Irma and Maria.
On 19 September, the Government of the Virgin Islands made an announcement informing the public that the BVI Commercial Court would be relocated to St. Lucia until further notice. In an obvious attempt to expedite its’ return, BVI firms have banded together and pledged $225,500 towards the court’s rebuild.
Commenting on the pledges, BVI Finance Interim Executive Director, Lorna Smith, OBE, said, "It is evident that the BVI’s financial services industry, both here and abroad, is always ready to do their part to ensure the continued success of the jurisdiction as a respected international business and finance centre. As we begin the rebuild for the BVI Commercial Court, we are reminded of the importance of our public/private partnership and grateful for the contributions made."
Contributions towards the Commercial Court and other areas of need are still being accepted at this time. For more information, contact BVI Finance at info@bvifinance.vg.
