BVI FINANCE STRENGTHENS CROSS-BORDER INVESTMENTS AT ASIA OUTBOUND DUBAI 2022

BVI Finance continues to strengthen cross-border investments at the Asia Outbound Event in Dubai that took place on May 17 and 18.
The two-day conference was attended by over three hundred of Asia’s top financial intermediaries and agents which focused on corporate restructuring, lifestyle living and wealth preservation that span two vital markets, Asia, and Middle East.
Global Head of Business Development & Marketing, Simon Gray attended along with invited Member firm representatives, Carly Thorpe of VISTRA, Stewart Adams of TMF and Tom Cochrane of Walkers.
VISTRA’s Director of Private Wealth, Carly Thorpe gave an exceptional presentation entitled, “Wealth Management – Trends in Product Innovation” on the first day, which emphasised the BVI’s position as an internationally respected and reputable financial centre. She went on to highlight the BVI’s ongoing capacity for innovation using examples of the Virgin Islands Special Trust Act (VISTA) which is designed primarily to cater for the needs of owners of family businesses, which piqued interests, as a focus was on the preservation assets.
Another highlight in Carly’s presentation was the BVI’s Fintech Regulatory Sandbox which enables entrepreneurs to test their products and services in relation to the provision of financial services businesses in a live and contained environment.
TMF’s Managing Director, Steward Adams sat on a panel addressing “Navigating cross-border investment led by the development of free zones and economic zones” on day two, which he focused on the fact that the BVI has led the field for many years which ensures the BVI as a credible jurisdiction.
