Preserving wealth in an ever-evolving digital world was the theme of the Evening with Martin Litwak, hosted by BVI Finance on October 6.

Martin, an accomplished lawyer, and public speaker presented to a crowd of financial services professionals where he shared the nuances of tax planning law and his practical experience of dealing with celebrities that fall foul of tax officers or unscrupulous lawyers and financial advisers.

Martin also presented a chronology of events in the financial services industry, which included the evolution of technology and its adaptation that led to the course of countries’ tax agendas.

Additionally, Martin introduced his third book which was well-received by the audience of BVI professionals.

BVI Finance Head of Business Development and Marketing, Simon Gray expressed his delight in the event and commented that professionals would particularly enjoy the book, as readers will discover the wealth issues suffered by celebrities – due to processes involving divorces, the resolution of estates, and tax-related claims– that resulted from lack of planning.

Simon added that the scenarios in Martin’s book are situations shared by the famous of all countries who lack the knowledge and the information necessary to take care of those aspects on their own concluding: “So often, so many lose so much by not planning well enough. Good examples include sports professionals and pop stars as well as lottery winners – skillful on the pitch or stage, but less so in the world of financial planning and the navigation of tax laws. This excellent presentation is a salutary lesson for all.”
