BVI Financial Services Week 2022 highlights the importance of the sector to the local and global economy.
The theme Globalisation: BVI Beyond led the week of events, in line with the BVI Finance’s commissioned report by Pragmatix Advisory, ‘Beyond Globalisation: The British Virgin Islands’ contribution to global prosperity in an uncertain world’.
The events began November 12, when industry colleagues met up for an informative adventure with Hike BVI and explored the Fort Charlotte hike trail.
On November 14, Founder and Director of Pragmatix Advisory, Mr. Mark Pragnell and BVI Finance CEO, Ms. Elise Donovan met with the BVI’s legislators for a special presentation of the Summary Report, Beyond Globalisation Report to an informal sitting of the House of Assembly.
On November 15, professionals gathered at the ‘Beyond Globalisation Conference, where Mr. Pragnell, the keynote speaker, presented on some of the key findings of the report. Two panel discussions focused on international finance centres in an uncertain future and the BVI’s Global Impact.
Later that evening, the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) debate team challenged the Industry practitioners in the Great Debate on the moot, “Does globalization have a future?”. The HLSCC team of Ms. Jade Smith, Mr. Delroy Prince and Ms. C’Novia Toussaint defeated the industry team Simon Gray, Omonike Robinson-Pickering and Charlie Goldsblatt.
On November 16,Special Edition Breakfast Forum leaders in tourism, financial services and business discussed the intersection of their sectors and how they relate to globalisation.
November 17, Carey Olsen won the Jeopardy Game Night in which firms competed on who knew the financial services industry best.
