BVI Finance hosted the first in a series of China-focused webinars in collaboration with Asia Outbound Investment Group on 15th March. The webinar, titled "BVI: Innovative Solutions for Chinese Businesses," was held via the Zoom platform and moderated by Matthew Sumner of Asia Outbound Investment Group.
The event provided attendees with insights into the key developments of the British Virgin Islands' (BVI) best-in-class regulatory regime and business-friendly environment. BVI has played an increasingly important role in the global economic landscape, facilitating cross-border trade, investment, and finance.
The webinar featured two panels of experts, focusing on the latest BVI services and product updates on private wealth and corporate business, as well as significant innovation and opportunities in doing business in the BVI.
The first panel speakers included Richard Grasby, Partner of Appleby's Hong Kong office, Lorraine Pao, Partner of Maples Group, part of the finance team of Maples in Calder in their Hong Kong office, and Shane Quinn, Senior Legal Manager of Ogier's dispute resolution team in Hong Kong.
The second panel centered on the management of digital and virtual assets, along with related rules and regulations in the BVI. It explored how the BVI is maintaining its leading position in providing sustainable adoption for global investment.
The panelists addressed questions regarding the legislative and support provided by BVI to investors and managers looking to use the jurisdiction for issuing virtual assets, such as tokens or cryptocurrencies, or setting up exchanges. They also discussed the regulatory environment in BVI and the newly introduced Virtual Assets Service Providers Act (VASP).
The second panel speakers were Chris Page, Counsel at Conyers' Corporate Department in Hong Kong, Christopher Simpson, Partner at O'Neal Webster's Commercial Department in the BVI, and James Broad, Partner at Mourant in Hong Kong in the Corporate and Funds Practice.
The next webinar in the BVI Finance series will take place on 19th April (20th April in China). Don't miss the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the world of BVI business solutions and regulations.
