An inspirational panel featuring former legislator and King's Counsel, Mrs. Dancia Penn, Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Honourable Lorna Smith, Senior Counsel at Walkers, Ms. Colleen Farrington, and BVI Finance CEO, Ms. Elise Donovan, captivated an audience of women by sharing invaluable insights on their career and life’s journey in celebration of International Women’s Day today.

Mrs. Dancia Penn, in her engaging address, recounted her upbringing in the BVI and the pivotal role of education and mentorship in shaping her career trajectory. Reflecting on her journey, she emphasized the importance of continuous learning, community involvement, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Mrs. Penn urged attendees to seize opportunities, adapt to change, and pave the way for future generations of women.
Deputy Premier Honourable Lorna Smith shared her experiences of overcoming challenges and advocating for gender inclusivity in the financial services sector. Ms. Elise Donovan drew parallels between leadership and sports, emphasising the value of teamwork, strategy, and perseverance. Despite facing setbacks, Ms. Donovan underscored that leadership is attainable through determination and embracing unconventional paths. Her insights encouraged attendees to redefine success and prioritise effort over perfection.
Senior Counsel Ms. Colleen Farrington applauded her fellow speakers and shared her perspective on achieving work-life balance and leaving a legacy for future generations.
