Resilient BVI: Hurricane Irma five years on

07/09/2022

Reminders of the horrific events of September 2017 remain today, and there is still work to be done. The BVI in 2022 is completely unrecognisable from the devastating pictures that were beamed around the globe in the weeks after Hurricane Irma. The strength, determination and recovery shown by a territory is quite incredible, even more so given that it has taken place with limited outside support.

The BVI360° reports outlines, “Islanders’ remarkable resilience to rebuild so quickly after a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane is indicative of a jurisdiction which consistently punches above its weight. It shows an ability to rebound from the toughest of challenges, and whether it is a natural disaster or worldwide pandemic, the BVI will always remain agile and resilient.”
