The British Virgin Islands has a remarkably balanced economy underpinned by a thriving tourism sector as well as its innovative international business and finance centre.

The financial services industry provides financial services to the people and corporations in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). This segment of the economy is made up of a variety of financial firms including banks, investment houses, lenders, finance companies, real estate brokers, and insurance companies, trust companies, law firms, accounting firms etc.

The international business and finance centre employs 2,200 people directly and supports a further 3,000 jobs in the territory. Over two-thirds of all jobs in the centre are held by BVIslanders and Belongers. The financial services industry in the BVI accounts for 27% percent of the workforce.
