BVI Finance member firm Harneys has advised BMR Energy, a Virgin Group investment that develops, owns and operates clean energy projects in the Caribbean and Latin America, on its acquisition of Sibo S.A., a Guatemalan solar energy group. Assets of Sibo include a 7 MWp Green Solar array in Guatemala.

Yesterday, the BVI Financial Services Commission (the “Commission”) announces that it has appointed Mr. Burton Chalwell as the Commission’s new Asia Representative. Mr. Chalwell will replace Mr. Leon Wheatley who will return to the Commission’s headquarters in Tortola, and serve as a Deputy Director with supervision of the Compliance Inspection Unit. Mr. Chalwell’s appointment was effective 9 October 2017 and Mr. Wheatley is expected to assume his new role 13 November 2017.
