Following the destruction caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Association of Panamanian Lawyers has donated $90,000 to electricity restoration efforts island wide.

A number of organisations in the BVI’s business and finance sector have pledged a significant financial contribution in support of the Commercial Division of the BVI High Court’s rebuild following the destruction caused by Hurricane’s Irma and Maria.

Speaking at a round table event hosted at BVI House London, Premier and Minister for Finance, Dr. Hon. D. Orlando Smith, OBE, welcomed the tremendous support offered by the financial services industry in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Over 300 persons turned up for the black-tie BVI High School Fundraiser Ball in Hong Kong at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel on November 28, 2017. The event, to raise funds toward the rebuilding of the Elmore Stoutt High School, was organised by a committee of Hong Kong-based financial services industry practitioners.

The BVI has a long-standing reputation in this industry for excellence, dating back to the publication of the Mutual Funds Act in 1996, but we have never had the statistics to back up every practitioners’ firm belief in the jurisdiction that we have one of the globe’s largest and most flexible fund jurisdictions.
